Feline Diabetes is a hard thing for the pet owner to accept and often a costly thing. The first thing that a pet owner should do is NOT PANIC. Your cat is very sensitive to you their "parent" and if you become overly stressed in front of your cat, then that could make your cat have diabetic complications because his glucose levels might increase.
After you have calmed down, you must take your cat to the Veterarian. They will give a bunch of tests to determine whether your cat has Diabetes. If it is discovered that your cat does in fact have diabetes, then your Vet will tell you what kind of Diabetes he may have. Your Vet might prescribe insulin or a drug alternative, but if you are lucky you will be able to control his diabetes through their diet.
That is what this is site is all about. You must change your cat's diet if it is found that he has diabetes. Most people have their cats on a diet of high carbohydrate dry food. There are many reasons for this, the price, convenience, and simplicity. But, the dry cat food could be precisely what got your cat into this mess in the first place. The first thing you should do, right away, is to take your cat off of dry food and onto a low carb, high protein canned cat food.
